13" White Oak Cutting Board
Properly cared-for cutting boards can last decades - luckily, care is simple!
Clean board promptly after use with warm water and mild dish soap. Always rinse both sides of the board when washing to help prevent splitting. Pat dry with clean towel and allow to air-dry thoroughly. NEVER wash cutting board in dishwasher.
CONDITIONING / REFRESHING (depending on use)
Every 2-6 weeks: (1) While the board is dry, wipe on a light coat of mineral oil or Walrus Oil brand cutting board oil. Allow to soak in for at least fifteen minutes, and buff dry. (2) Rub in a small amount of Walrus Oil brand Wood Wax or other beeswax-based butcher block conditioner. Allow to soak in for 15 minutes, and buff dry.
Every 3-12 months: sand, by hand or with a sander, with 180-220 grit sandpaper. Clean thoroughly with a rag lightly dampened with water or 91% isopropyl rubbing alcohol. Once the board has completely dried, follow steps (1) and (2) above.
ALLERGIES: While allergic reactions to the hardwoods used in these cutting boards are extremely rare, they are possible. If you are allergic to walnuts or tree nuts, you should ask your physician or allergist before using cooking tools containing walnut hardwood.
BACTERIA: All cooking surfaces will build up bacteria if not properly cleaned. This is the same for all cutting boards - plastic, bamboo, and hardwood. Carefully following care instructions will help prevent bacterial buildup on your hardwood cutting boards.
